Adapt, React & Inform | Use of digital information displays

Wayfinding system are the user interface for the environment. Just as on any website, buttons and links help you navigate and access information, signs are those physical markers that a user seeks to navigate complexities while interacting with environments. Analogous to our experience on the interweb, signs need to be positioned strategically and should be able to, by design, appear distinct from the environment, much like the menus and buttons on a website; and yet be a part of an overall theme.

Our information needs keep changing as the environment is continuously evolving and changing! Traditional static systems do not have the means to address this change. In an ideal world, we would all navigate using moving images and text but then the cost of such systems become prohibitive.

A solution to this issue is to integrate low cost LED matrix into the signs. These display units are not expensive but they offer a tremendous opportunity to add a layer of dynamic information/interest to the traditional wayfinding signs.

These are some of our current and past projects where we have successfully experimented with integrating low cost exterior grade digital information systems in our sign system thereby extending their efficacy & utility while adding a layer of fun and creative opportunity into these traditional systems.

Stay tuned for more updates and experiments in wayfinding!
