  • Adapt, React & Inform | Use of digital information displays

Wayfinding system are the user interface for the environment. Just as on any website, buttons and links help you navigate and access information, signs are those physical markers that a user seeks to navigate complexities while interacting with environments. Analogous to our experience on the interweb, signs need to be positioned strategically and should be able to, by design, appear distinct from the environment, much like the menus and buttons on a website; and yet be a part of an overall theme. Our information needs keep changing as the environment is continuously evolving and changing! Traditional static systems do not have the means to address this change. In an ideal world, we would all navigate using moving images and text but then the cost of such systems become prohibitive. A solution to this issue is to integrate low cost LED matrix into the signs. These display units are not expensive but they offer a tremendous opportunity to add a layer of dynamic information/interest to the traditional wayfinding signs. These are some of our current and past projects where we have successfully experimented with integrating low cost exterior grade digital information systems in our sign system thereby extending their efficacy & utility while adding a layer of fun and creative opportunity into these traditional systems. Stay tuned for more updates and experiments in wayfinding!

  • Worldmark Gurgaon, The Brand New Cool!

Worldmark Gurgaon opened late sometime in the last year, a year that was defined by our inability to enjoy collective and shared spaces. Nevertheless, this country cousin of the now hip Worldmark Aerocity, a project long in the making, borrows some of its more famous family member's glitz and charm whilst creating a new experience for the visitor in Gurgaon. Our sign design here is an extension of the monochromatic theme designed for the Aerocity property, with a slightly nuanced expression, a subtlety that Gurgaon is famous for. These signs add to the mostly business character of this development and we are glad how these signs turned out!

  • Parking spaces and how they can be interesting!

No one loves a dark and drab basement to park in. This, not only creates a poor impression about the place you are visiting but also is a nightmare to navigate. I am sure that you have, perhaps more than a few occasions, forgot where you parked! Its no fun when that happens. You are tired at the end of long day and the last thing that you want is go hunting for your car in a sea of cars parked in a dimly lit nondescript space. This is happens because when you park, the environment doesn't provide any visual clues or interest which then stays in your memory. Colors help! Especially if you want to quickly identify where the circulation lobbies are. Following are sketches made for one of our current healthcare projects where the elevator lobbies in the parking levels are being highlighted by color blocking the surfaces and also adding a ceiling that hides all services and puts the color in sharp contrast. This color is also highlighted by changing a small percentage of the lights to to the same color as the core color. This project is currently under design development stages. Similarly fire escapes can be highlighted with color to stand out in such environments. Mind you, when it comes to fire safety, this is only a tertiary system of recognition, primary and secondary being illuminated signs and luminescent fire floor markings. In addition to wall color blocking, your color strategy should also translate to your wayfinders. Visit our website to know more about our projects and experiments, visit our website and subscribe!

  • New projects & a new paradigm of work!

We are excited to be working with Advance India Projects Ltd (AIPL) on two of their projects. One is a 75 acre township called 'DreamCity Nxt' and the other is a million square feet retail development by the name of 'Joy Street'. It has been a great start to a new project as this is one of the first few projects that we have collaborated, from the very beginning, on the Microsoft Teams platform. With an increasing number of our clients on the same platform, working remotely has never been simpler with all the tools or work in the same application. What a revelation this has been! Now all we need is remote controlled drones to be our eyes at the building sites :) when that happens, work would truly have stepped into the future!

  • We are working from home.

Dear Friends, We will be extending our work from home till the end of August. This will also be contingent to government regulations & policies as they develop. We are now fully operational now since we have been doing so since the month of march. Microsoft Teams has been a lifesaver, a pleasant surprise! As before, all meetings will be conducted via video conference and do remember we are also just an email or a phone call away. It is important that we break the spread of the virus by practicing social distancing so that the we do our best to curtail its transmission. Do click on the link below which is to our government's communication outreach to keep us updated and informed. https://www.mygov.in/covid-19/ On a lighter vein, do follow our work and quarantine stories on our Instagram handle.
